Risk assessments are an important part of planning and delivering activities within VCSE organisations. They help you identify anything that could cause harm, consider who may be affected and put sensible measures in place to reduce risks. Taking the time to assess risks helps create a safer environment for staff, volunteers, trustees and beneficiaries. 

Risk assessments are not about stopping activities from happening. They are about helping organisations make informed decisions, prepare for potential issues, and ensure activities can go ahead safely and with confidence. They also provide a useful record that risks have been considered and managed appropriately.
