Sutrans, ArtRoots Scheme: Encourage Walking, Wheeling, and Cycling Along Traffic Free Routes

Grants up to £6,000 to help groups and individuals develop projects that enhance route accessibility and encourage walking, wheeling, and cycling.
Grants are available to constituted community groups, non-constituted organisations, and individual applicants who can demonstrate substantial community involvement. The standard award is £2,500, with higher amounts for projects expected to significantly increase active travel. No match funding is required.
Previous ArtRoots-supported projects include:
- Temporary installations
- Performances and events
- Sculptures
- Heritage signs
- Information boards
- Murals.
Applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest form, after which a Sustrans officer provides guidance and support for the full application process. Projects are judged based on potential to foster community engagement and improve public enjoyment of local cycle routes.
