Newcastle Youth Fund

Closing date

The fund supports activities for 13 to 19 year olds (or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities)

The fund aims to support diverse, high quality youth provision and give young people a direct say in their city.

To apply for funding, you must demonstrate that you have listened and responded to the needs of local young people and be able to demonstrate your understanding of local needs.

  • Support young people’s mental health.
  • Support young people’s physical health.
  • Support individual and community resilience.
  • Increase aspirations, promote education, training and employment.
  • Reduce anti-social behaviour and risk taking behaviours (exploitation, County Lines, violence, drugs and alcohol and sexual health).
  • Support for young people with SEND.
  • Support for ethnic minority young people.
  • Support for LGBTQ+ young people.
  • Support to tackle violence against women and girls and support for boys and young men.

Key Features

  • Funding for up to 12 months – 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028. Funds of between £10,001 – £25,000 per project for 12 months delivery.
  • Funding is limited to projects delivering year-round provision; where delivery changes significantly during school holidays, only term-time activity will be funded, and separate applications should be made to the Holiday Activity Fund for holiday provision.
  • Locality focused delivery – Projects to be delivered in North, East, Inner West or Outer West rather than city wide. Focus on the specific needs of young people within your delivery locality.
  • Voice of young people is at the heart of the Newcastle Youth Fund and the projects supported.

Please remember applications will be assessed by members of our youth panel:

  • They are looking for high quality projects rather than professionally produced applications.
  • Use age-appropriate wording – our panel members are similar ages to the young people you work with. Avoid acronyms.
  • Ensure statistics and data are current and local to your locality/project.
