Newcastle Council: Community Spaces Grant Scheme
Pride in Place is a ten year government funded initiative designed to empower communities, regenerate neighbourhoods and restore local pride.
Four areas of Newcastle have each been allocated £20 million of Pride in Place funding.
The geographical boundaries for these areas are defined using Office for National Statistics census areas which you can see using the links below:
What Pride in Place funding is for
This funding is intended to support community-led regeneration, with local people at the heart of decisions about which projects receive support.
It is designed to support projects that:
- strengthen local groups
- improve public spaces
- widen access to services
- create more opportunities for people to develop skills, find employment and take part in cultural activities.
How funding will be given out
- Each area will have a Neighbourhood Board made up of local residents and partners who will help decide how the money is used.
- This should make sure the funding meets local needs and supports the people who need it most.
- You can come along to an information session to find out what is involved in being part of a Neighbourhood Board. The sessions are informal and open to anyone:
