Tell us about your organisation/department/project (your aims, what you do, who you work with):

Flexible Support Options provide independent supported living, residential, short breaks and outreach services. We provide care and support to individuals who have identified support needs relating to a learning disability, autism, mental health, physical disability, sensory disability, acquired brain injury, or other complex physical needs. Our vision is for people we support to have the best opportunities to live happy, safe, healthy, and fulfilled lives.

As the Quality Engagement Partner, one of my key roles is to engage with the people we support and their families, using data from feedback to improve quality initiatives and promoting control and choice around care, support, and accommodation.

Tell us why being a Haref Ally is important for you and your organisation

Being able to connect with the diverse network of Allies is important, so that we can share information about the services we deliver and signpost the people we support to community groups.

Tell us about anything that you or your organisation has done to improve how you work with ethnically marginalised communities

We have recruited more ethnically marginalised staff, and therefore having a multi-skilled, diverse workforce who can deliver bespoke care and establish/re-establish links with community groups.

Our staff are also attending the multi-agency Cultural Competency training course, which provides a valuable insight into challenges and good practices within other organisations.
