Tell us about your organisation/department/project (your aims, what you do, who you work with):

Alzheimer's Society are the UK’s leading dementia charity and the only one providing expert support to people living with dementia today, while also campaigning to make dementia a priority and funding ground-breaking research to help change the landscape of dementia in the future.

As a Society, we are made up of people with dementia, carers, trusted experts, campaigners, researchers and clinicians. We are the UK’s largest collective force of people with unparalleled knowledge and over 40 years of experience addressing the biggest challenges facing people living with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society provide support services in Newcastle and Gateshead, and the dementia support service provides one-to-one support to people with dementia, carers and family members. The service is unique to your personal circumstances and needs. Dementia advisers and dementia adviser volunteers will support you to understand key information around a diagnosis of dementia and what it means for you and your family.

It is important to not only recognise the health needs and issues of ethnically marginalised communities but to also help address these inequalities in Newcastle and Gateshead as part of a wider network of services.
