Lisa Goodwin Appointed as New Chief Executive

Lisa Goodwin has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Connected Voice, the voluntary sector support organisation for Newcastle and Gateshead. Lisa will take up the post on 1 October, 2019.

Lisa has a strong track record in the voluntary sector of partnership development and income generation, working for VONNE since October 2018 as Deputy Chief Executive and previously as Chief Executive at North Tyneside VODA between October 2011 and October 2018. Lisa has worked in charity infrastructure roles for most of her career, including at East Durham Trust and Voluntary Arts.  Lisa is an active volunteer and lives locally with her young family.

Simon Elliott, Chair of Connected Voice, said, "This is a very exciting time for our organisation as we are going through a rebranding exercise, celebrating our 90th year of activity and now a new Chief Executive. It demonstrates our ambition as we move into the next phase of change. The appointment has been made following a robust recruitment process carried out by the board and an external advisor.

"We thank Sally Young for leading Connected Voice for the last nine years. Under Sally's leadership the organisation has grown, extended into Gateshead, developed our work in BAME communities, and supported many more people and organisations to do good stuff. Connected Voice now has a regional and national reputation about tackling inequalities and injustice. Sally will remain with Connected Voice until the end of December and help with the transition and handover."

Lisa Goodwin, incoming Chief Executive, said, "I am excited to be taking on this role, and it is an absolute privilege to take over from Sally Young, who has been both an inspiration and a source of support to me during my career. I am looking forward to working with Connected Voice's excellent team of staff and volunteers to further grow our reach and services and meet the needs of the sector into the future."
