My Name Is campaign

Connected Voice is proud to be one of the early adopters of the My Name Is campaign from Race Equality Matters, which helps to make sure we all pronounce each other's names correctly.

My name is promotes inclusivity by highlighting individuality.

Names represent who we are and where we have come from.

Pronouncing other people’s names correctly does matter. Especially if you value dignity, respect and inclusion.

#MyNameIs

The campaign was officially launched just over a week ago and Race Equality Matters is calling for 1000 organisations to show their commitment and join the movement.

We encouraged everyone at Connected Voice to adopt #MyNameIs in their email signatures as part of our Black History Month celebrations. Colleagues thought it was a great idea; many now hear their names pronounced correctly in conversation and some have said that it has made them feel more confident to ask how to pronounce other people's names. Externally, we've already received positive feedback, and we hope that it makes our workplace and services feel more inclusive.

We were delighted to learn from Race Equality Matters that we are one of the first organisations to roll out an organisation-wide campaign and we shared our experiences at the recent launch event.

Taking part in the My Name Is campaign is simple and easy. Race Equality Matters has shared resources on their website about how you can take part.
