November 13 saw the last of our Focused Networking Events of 2019, introducing our new brand identity and our new Chief Executive, Lisa Goodwin, and opened by Kim McGuinness – Northumbria’s new Police and Crime Commissioner

A range of key speakers from not-for-profit or social enterprise organisations in Newcastle and Gateshead shared their experiences to inspire new ideas with representatives of more than 50 local organisations.

  • The Children’s Society - their work on criminal exploitation of children how they move from criminalising to safeguarding young people who are at risk.
  • Edge North-East - local grass-roots mentoring programmes working with high-risk young people
  • Samantha’s Legacy - a local not for profit which aims to educate young people about the dangers of knives and support families of murder victims. They will focus on their project to bring the ‘Knife Angel’ to The Baltic in February 2020 to act as focus to engage with young people about knife crime.
  • Kicks Project - Newcastle United Foundation. Kicks engages more than 2 000 young people in 12 areas across the region in football and constructive activities, increases playing and coaching opportunities, breaks down barriers between the police and young people and reduces crime and anti-social behaviour.

As with all our Focused Networking Events, delegates took part in Focused Conversations to explore potential service development, possibilities for partnership, and developing new opportunities for meeting the needs of the people we seek to serve.

We’re already beginning to plan our events for 2020, and we’ll soon be asking for your input on which themes you want us to explore throughout the New year
