Career progression at Connected Voice Advocacy

Connected Voice Advocacy values the time and dedication of its volunteers. We know that people have different reasons for volunteering and one of those is around career progression and work experience. At CVA we provide training and experience in advocacy. We have a tried and tested pathway for career progression with volunteers moving into our team as sessional staff and also permanent advocates.  A recent example of that is Tracy Melrose who has recently been appointed from the pool of sessional advocates into our Statutory Advocacy team.

Tracy told us:

“I wanted to become an advocate because I had used an advocacy service in the past, I felt that I could give back by doing what I love doing, helping people, I felt that I could make a difference to people who needed support.

I started to volunteer with the team in 2017. Since then I have grown in confidence leading me to be offered sessional work as a Relevant Person’s Representative [a role under the Mental Capacity Act]. I really enjoy doing this as I feel that I help people have their views, wishes and feelings be heard. I am so delighted that through these stages, I have been given a permanent contract.”

We are delighted to welcome Tracy to our team this month, together with new advocates Amelia Carr, Rachel McCreesh, and Florence Nevin. They will be working across our advocacy services.

We are currently recruiting for advocates to join our sessional pool. If you’re interested in joining our team go to  Jobs to find out more and to download a Job Description and application form.
