Understanding the causes of health inequalities
Following this training, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the causes, impacts, and solutions to health disparities across communities. Participants will explore how social determinants—such as income, education, housing, and employment—shape health outcomes, and why certain groups, including socially excluded populations and those with protected characteristics, are disproportionately affected.
The session introduces key concepts like equity vs equality, intersectionality, and trauma-informed practice, alongside national and local frameworks such as Core20PLUS5 and Marmot principles.
Through interactive activities, videos, and group discussions, learners will critically reflect on their own practice and identify actionable steps to reduce inequalities. The sessions are 2 hour 30 minutes long online and 3 hours in person.
By the end of the training, attendees will be equipped with practical strategies to embed health equity into service design and delivery, ensuring fairer access and better outcomes for all.
We do offer a bespoke training package, where we can tailor the content to suit the needs of your organisation and beneficiaries.
