Over the past couple of weeks we have been busy facilitating consultations for the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Newcastle and Gateshead, as both Councils work through their budget setting processes. Both of our local Councils are facing unprecedented financial challenges due to the fact that COVID-19 has meant they have incurred a lot of additional expenditure, while at the same time they have not been able to generate income in the usual way.
Many VCSE organisations are facing the same ‘double whammy’ and have also expressed concern about the fact they are still in emergency response mode, and meeting much higher levels of need than before the pandemic.
We were pleased to be able to organise a separate consultation for Haref network members also, recognising the significant impact that the pandemic has had for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. You can read the notes from the Haref consultation here.
