Connected Voice is working with Gateshead Council to talk to the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector about their recent review of Advice, Information, Guidance and Advocacy. The Council have spent significant time consulting with the sector and developing this review, and now that the recommendations have been accepted by the Council they want to talk to interested organisations about it in more detail.

There are two sessions in which Gateshead Council would like to have a conversation about the findings and move towards a model that is the right fit for the Gateshead community; something that is much more about people and relationships and less about transactions and process. A model that is bespoke to the needs of individuals, continuous learning and course correcting which better contributes to social change.

The agenda will include:

  • Findings from IA&A review, themes and recommendations
  • What this means for current contracts and grants
  • Changing relationships with our customers and providers based on research and our learning so far (see below) which recognises that “outcomes are created by people’s interaction with whole systems, not by particular interventions and organisations”, and that “funders and commissioners should invest time in building positive, trusting relationships in order to build a healthy system that responds to complexity”.
  • Council budget 2020/21

If you are planning to attend, they recommend you take a look at new national guidance ‘Community-centred public health: taking a whole system approach’. All three documents can be found using the hyperlinks below;
