Newcastle CVS Chief Executive, Sally Young, appointed Vice Chair of NCVO Board
Press release 18 October 2017

NCVO (The National Council for Voluntary Organisations) is the national charity that champions the voluntary sector and volunteering. They do this by connecting, representing and supporting voluntary organisations nationally.

Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service (Newcastle CVS) who support voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in Newcastle and Gateshead, are delighted to announce the appointment of Sally Young, Chief Executive of Newcastle CVS, as the new Vice Chair of the NCVO board.

Sally, who has worked with, and for charities for the past 30 years, will succeed Matt Hyde, the Chief Executive of the Scout Association, who comes to the end of his second, three-year term as a trustee at NCVO’s annual general meeting on 20 November. Sally is particularly interested in the value of small charities and local community groups, the importance of infrastructure organisations and working to tackle inequality and poverty. She will occupy the role for two years, as she is already in her second three-year term as a trustee.

Sally Young said:

“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Vice Chair at NCVO. I hope to bring the voice of North East charities and community organisations into the national discussions. I’m very aware of all the great work being done locally by volunteers, trustees and charity staff.”
