We offer a range of therapeutic and support services for children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse, in North Tyneside and Northumberland We are recruiting for a kind, capable and organised Family Support Worker to deliver trauma informed, one to one practical and emotional support to the primary carers of the children and young people who come to Acorns, to enable them to improve their mental health and wellbeing, and confidence in their own skills.

Work may include (but is not restricted to) support with housing, debt management and benefits, support with family or criminal court matters, advocacy, signposting to appropriate services such as parenting courses and mental health and drug and alcohol support services, and offering emotional one to one support through difficult times.

Due to the restrictions posed by the current pandemic, this role will involve elements of home working and remote working where possible including for the delivery of the service, so flexibility is encouraged.

This is a varied and interesting role, the post holder will work closely with our other services to design and deliver an appropriate family care plan for the family unit. A social work, domestic abuse or direct service delivery in the voluntary sector background is an advantage.

This is a fixed term post until end April 2021 with a possibility of an extension dependant on funding. This post has been re-advertised - previous applicants are welcome to apply, but must request our new application form.
