North East Wilds CIC has been running for 2 years, supporting people to access outdoor activities to improve their mental health and well-being.

We run forest school programmes, bushcraft days and community gardening to encourage a greater connection with nature, community and improved mental health for people of all ages. This is becoming more and more important as society spends more time indoors, on screens and working in isolation.

Our sessions help address key areas of mental health including:
Reducing loneliness and nurturing friendships
Increasing self-esteem through learning new skills
Improved physical health through exercise, healthy eating and improved sleep
Greater mindfulness through dedicated DBT skills-teaching
Improved empathy and gratitude through care for the environment.

These combine to help improve individual wellbeing and community resilience in ways that are sustainable and accessible.

Initially we are looking to recruit Directors with the following areas of expertise, although we welcome applications from people with other skill sets:

Mental Health therapy, inclusive of a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds.
Finance/bookkeeping and forecasting.
Marketing, networking and communications

Roles and responsibilities of all Directors:
Formulate & review the organisation’s strategy to achieve its aims and objectives
Ensure policy & practices keep to the organisation’s aims and core values
Ensure the organisation functions within its legal and financial requirements, and strives to achieve best practice
Promote the objectives of the organisation

Essential Qualities of All Directors
A passion and commitment towards North East Wild’s mission and aims
Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Directorship
Familiarity with our governing document
A willingness to devote time to carrying out responsibilities and a vision to move towards new opportunities
A willingness to work together as a team to constructively discuss topics and reach decisions for the company

Time Commitment: Quarterly Meet and ongoing problem solving – via email/whatsapp.
Focused projects would be time limited and pre-agreed.
The total hourly commitment would be a minimum of 24 hours a year
The location for meetings is flexible and may be via Zoom.
